Mandatory paid sick leave battle heating up
Florida has a public health motivation for imposing paid sick-leave mandates on private employers, a task force created by state lawmakers was told today. The panel has to report back to the Legislature in January on whether the state should follow the lead of Connecticut by requiring employers to offer a minimum number of paid sick-days. iSirona announces 300 new jobs in Panama City
iSirona is a medical software company that headquartered in Panama City in 2008 and hasn’t stopped growing since. iSirona’s roughly 200 current employees joined state and local officials Monday, including Gov. Rick Scott, to announce plans to create 300 new jobs at its Panama City headquarters over the next three years. More at the News Herald.

Interest in Selling Private Flood Insurance in Florida Surfaces
With increases in federal flood insurance rates looming, two insurance providers have said they are prepared to sell private flood policies in Florida. More than two million Florida residents are covered through the National Flood Insurance Program, which is about 37 percent of the NFIP’s market and $1 billion in premiums.
