» President Bush appointed Jorge L. Arrizurieta, chairman of the international policy group at law firm Akerman Senterfitt, to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, a senior trade advisory panel for the federal government.

» Howard C. Karawan was appointed COO of Fontainebleau Resorts, a Las Vegas-based resort and casino developer with operations in Miami Beach. The company is building Fontainebleau Las Vegas, a $2.9-billion resort on The Strip, and working on the $500-million renovation of Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Karawan was president of the destination resorts business at Kerzner International, which included Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Karawan will work in the company’s Aventura office.


Lucy Morillo

» Lucy Morillo has been named president of the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. She is the foundation’s first Hispanic, female president. She was executive director of the Office of Estate and Gift Planning at the University of Miami.
