HEATHROW —
» Seminole Community College is considering suggestions for a new name as it begins offering four-year degrees.
LAKE COUNTY —
» Hometown Health TV, a locally produced cable TV program that features medical content from Lake County medical experts, launched in March and is now showing in waiting rooms in Leesburg and The Villages. Its founder and president, Marc Robertz-Schwartz, plans to expand.
» The county’s new RE-Cycle Program allows residents to pick up discarded bicycles at a corral at the landfill in Tavares on a first-come, first-served basis. The bikes are free, and households are allowed to take home one per month.

» The first 40 students started classes Aug. 3 at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, each with a four-year scholarship funded from community donations for the new facility. Part of a growing "medical city," the school joins the Burnham Institute for Medical Research and a future Veterans Affairs hospital and Nemours Children’s Hospital.
» Set for completion in early 2010, the Office Brownstones at Maitland Concourse South has announced several future tenants, including a pediatric medical campus, a foot surgery center and an eye-care group.
» Old Florida National Bank, which changed its name from Orlando National Bank in May, has raised $50 million in less than three months and has opened a downtown Orlando branch, with plans to expand to the College Park area of Orlando and to Inverness this year for a total of eight locations.
» The 32-story 55 West on the Esplanade, which was under construction as an upscale condominium tower on Church Street in downtown Orlando when the recession hit, is leasing units to try to stay afloat.
» Orange County has agreed to refund $1.4 million to Universal Orlando as part of a settlement over a tax dispute with the property appraiser’s office.
» Orlando water-ski boat manufacturer Correct Craft plans to lay off 98 of its 360 workers by the end of August because of a weak market.
VOLUSIA COUNTY —
» Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center moved into a new facility in Ormond Beach that was more than double the size of its former hospital, bringing the number of beds from 205 to 277.
WINTER PARK —
» The city has partnered with AeroClave, a local company that decontaminates the interior and exterior of emergency rescue vehicles and large equipment such as stretchers.
» Fan Stamp, a privately owned company in Winter Park, has a licensing agreement with the NCAA and a multistate distributing contract with Walgreens to sell press-on mineral-based temporary face paint for applying team logos and other designs. The product is not as long-lasting as temporary tattoos and not as messy as regular face paint.
