› CEO Murray delivers upbeat report on state of Port Canaveral after record year
Port Canaveral Chief Executive Officer John Murray presented an upbeat assessment of the port's outlook during his State of the Port presentation on Wednesday. But, at the same time, Murray warned that the port needs expanded cruise, cargo and road infrastructure in the future if it wants to continue to thrive. Port Canaveral had record operating revenue of $128 million in its 2021-22 fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, which was about $20 million higher than budgeted.

› Watchdog wants DeSantis’ office held in contempt over unreleased migrant flight records
A public records watchdog on Wednesday asked a Tallahassee judge to charge the DeSantis administration with contempt of court for continuing to withhold public records about its handling of the relocation of migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard in September. The Florida Center for Government Accountability asked Judge J. Lee Marsh of the Second Judicial District to hold the governor’s office in contempt for violating Florida’s Public Records Act.

› Eyes turn to federal judge as she decides on accepting Jacksonville's redistricting map
Candidates and voters will know in the next three weeks what the boundaries will be for Jacksonville City Council districts in the spring elections because U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard has received all the arguments she asked for in a federal redistricting lawsuit. The city made its case Monday for Howard to approve the lines that City Council drew earlier this month after she said the city's previous map used unconstitutional "racial gerrymandering."

› Low amounts of Red Tide found near Fort De Soto beach in Pinellas County
Health officials are warning people to be cautious near North Beach at Fort De Soto Park after water samplers on Monday detected low concentrations of the organism that causes Red Tide, according to a spokesperson for the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County. Results from the latest water samples show a “low” concentration of the Red Tide-causing karenia brevis just offshore of the northern tip of Fort De Soto in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission data updated at noon Wednesday.
