Planning for the New Year

| 9/28/2021

As almost all companies did, we stopped face-to-face meetings over the past 19 months, relying instead on Zoom and other social media tools to keep moving our business forward. However convenient those tools are, I think we can all agree that the experience is just not the same as being able to engage face to face.

As we head into late fall, our plan at Florida Trend is to return to face-to-face meetings and roundtables with executives around the state — provided we all take the necessary precautions. I’m looking forward to it, as I’m sure many of you are.

As we plan for 2022, I am excited about the editorial calendar that our team has put together. Some of the topics we’ll cover include space/aerospace, Florida’s infrastructure, transportation, higher education, the health care landscape, research/technology and innovation and Florida’s workforce.

Economic Backbone features will focus on cancer, cardiac and pediatric care, architecture/ engineering/design/construction, banking and finance, trade and logistics, commercial real estate, Florida law, energy and nursing.

In addition, we will feature seven regional economic profiles highlighting developments in each of the following regions:

- Jacksonville/Northeast Florida

- Pasco County

- Miami-Dade County

- St. Petersburg

- Greater Gainesville

- Sarasota County

- Florida’s Heartland

You can also count on staying current by reading our annual publications, including Florida Small Business, NEXT (our student guide to life after high school), Business Florida and the Florida 500.

On the digital front, content on our website attracts nearly 1 million page views each month. And you can sign up for our free digital daily news alerts, our weekly newsletters — covering real estate, health care and education — Movers & Influencers updates, and our weekly video newscast, the Business Beat, a two-minute video news roundup of the week’s big news. Go to FloridaTrend.com/Alerts to sign up.

This month’s issue is packed with news you will not want to miss. You might be surprised to learn that Florida’s crime rate is the lowest it has been in decades. Check out Mike Vogel’s report. Amy Keller examines economic development successes around the state, and Amy Martinez writes about the growing presence of Spanish TV production in Miami. Our Economic Backbone section covers advances in breast cancer.

This issue also includes a special regional economic profile on Greater Fort Lauderdale. Learn about the trends and see what’s driving growth in this booming region of the state.

As you begin planning for 2022, you can continue to count on Florida Trend as a resource to bring you the information you need to succeed in Florida.
