Hurricane Eta regains strength, takes aim at Florida's West Coast

A revigorated Eta strengthened into a hurricane off the southwest coast of Florida on Wednesday morning and is now taking aim at the state's West Coast. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami said that a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft and Doppler radar data show Eta has now restrengthened into a hurricane, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Pandemic Permit
School Board bans student groups from participating in Christmas parades

 The decision came at a board meeting Tuesday night, a week before the Ocala City Council will decide on Nov. 17 whether to issue a permit for the annual Ocala event sponsored by the Friends of the Christmas Parade. The Belleview and Dunnellon events are a go, though without student groups.

 Dubbed “100 Yards of Hope,” the restoration project is one of several environmental initiatives the National Football League has organized around the Super Bowl, scheduled for Feb. 7 in Tampa. The yearly bonanza — of seven-layer dips and $5 million commercials — is to many a celebration of excess. But NFL Green, the league’s environmental wing, tries to use the Super Bowl’s platform to encourage sustainability.
