FAMU Mourns the Death of Civil Rights Giants John Lewis and The Reverend C.T. Vivian

| 7/18/2020

The Florida A&M University family mourns with the nation the passing of two giants of the fight for civil rights, the Rev. C.T. Vivian and U.S. Rep. John Lewis.

“Their lifelong commitment to the struggle for civil rights will remain an inspiration and an example for present and future generations. Their lives reflected the true meaning of sacrifice in the service of mankind. America is a better place because of their work,” said President Larry Robinson, Ph.D.

Rep. Lewis visited Florida A&M University on October 29, 2014 for an early voting rally with students.

“It was a privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime honor to march alongside him to the state Capitol,” Robinson said. “We send our deepest condolences to his family and the people of Georgia.”
