› Pandemic-EBT cards begin arriving in mailboxes across Florida
Pandemic-EBT cards are now hitting mailboxes across Florida. But make sure to be on the lookout as the card can be easy to miss. The Jackson County School District posted on social media about the cards arriving this week, saying that they may be hard to tell apart from junk mail.

› DeSantis signs measure to prevent local sunscreen bans
Gov. Ron DeSantis late Monday signed into law a disputed measure that will prevent local governments from imposing bans on certain types of sunscreen. The sunscreen bill (SB 172), spearheaded by Senate Appropriations Chairman Rob Bradley, stems from a plan by Key West to enforce a ban on the sale of sunscreens that contain the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate. Key West pointed to concerns that the chemicals could damage coral reefs.

› How South Florida will spend more than $600 million in federal coronavirus aid
South Florida has started piecing together how it’ll spend hundreds of millions of dollars in federal aid in the fight against the coronavirus crisis. Food distribution, an isolation program to help families separate from sick members in their home and coronavirus testing are just a few of the ways Broward County plans to spend $340.7 million. Palm Beach County leaders recently announced plans to use their $261 million for reusable face masks and to help shuttered businesses reopen.

› St. Petersburg’s new 26-acre Pier District was not a smooth or quick project
When Mayor Rick Kriseman took office in 2014, he inherited a problem that exasperated his predecessor. A fractious public couldn’t agree on what to do about the Pier, a St. Petersburg tradition with iterations dating back to 1889. Kriseman promised a quick solution.
