› Jacksonville nonprofit offers free HIV testing and education
While the globe is entrenched in battle with COVID-19, local nonprofit leaders are working to bring awareness to another deadly virus. Saturday, in observance of National HIV Testing Day, the Jacksonville Health and Educational Resource Center will partner with APEL Health Services Center to offer free HIV testing.
› Orlando Health strikes joint venture with home-health company
Orlando Health has entered a joint venture with LHC Group, a national provider of in-home and community health services, which range from wound care, medication management and nutrition counseling to transportation and errands. The joint venture will include locations in Orlando, Clermont, Kissimmee, and Altamonte Springs, with three Orlando Health and three LHC Group providers.
› Sarasota giving away up to 50,000 masks
Ahead of a discussion on whether to make them mandatory, the city of Sarasota will be giving away up to 50,000 protective face masks in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. The “Mask Mobile,” a small electric city vehicle outfitted with a white surgical mask across the front grill, will scoot around town this week to promote mask usage in public. The city did not announce a schedule for the “Mask Mobile.”
› Disney’s Splash Mountain: ‘Princess and the Frog’ in, ‘Song of the South’ out
Disney will revamp its Splash Mountain log rides, ditching its “Song of the South” theme in favor of “The Princess and the Frog.” The change will happen at both Magic Kingdom theme park and at Disneyland in California.
