› Beachwave Beachwear to donate 20,000 masks to crewed launch spectators
With crowds in the thousands expected for the first crewed launch from Cape Canaveral in nine years, a local beachwear company is donating 20,000 masks to spectators. Beachwave Beachware — a chain of locally owned beach shops — is partnering with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office to hand out the masks to those viewing the launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon from locations around the county on May 27.

› Hillsborough Commission majority poised to raise impact fees
Commissioners are scheduled to vote Wednesday when the county commission holds a public hearing on a plan to increase the transportation fee from $5,094 to as much as $9,183 for a single-family home. The fee would be reduced to $7,401 if the legal challenge to the voter-approved transportation surtax is rejected by the Florida Supreme Court, according to information presented to commissioners previously.

› Palm Beach County reopened without meeting federal guidelines, investigation shows
Palm Beach County hadn’t met all the federal guidelines for reopening when it ended its coronavirus lockdown, a South Florida Sun Sentinel analysis has found. In the two weeks preceding the decision, coronavirus infections and the percentage of people testing positive in the county had not declined, and now some numbers are trending upward.

› Curry’s former chief administrator, political strategist worked for JEA bidder, according to documents
NextEra Energy, the parent company of Florida Power and Light, hired Sam Mousa and Tim Baker, two local lobbyists with close ties to Mayor Lenny Curry, in connection to their attempt to purchase JEA, according to a response to a subpoena it received last month from a Jacksonville City Council investigative committee.
