› Most bands are in quarantine. In St. Pete, this one’s still jamming together.
When they settled into their home in downtown St. Petersburg, Danielle DeCosmo and Anthony Goodwin worked hard to soundproof it. The last thing they wanted was for their band, Blackbird Morning, to upset the neighbors. The irony? These days, their house is one of the few places anywhere in Tampa Bay where it’s possible to hear a band playing live music.

› Bay County gets top spot in annual per capita Florida crime statistics
Bay County has taken the top spot in the state’s annual crime statistics. Self-reported uniform crime data provided to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement show that the county took the number one spot in the per capita crime rate in 2019 from Leon County, which had held the distinction for the last three years.

› FSU institute launches Zoom initiative to help older adults
To help older adults who are not familiar with the Zoom video platform, the FSU institute offers illustrated how-to documents that take you through the steps of creating a Zoom account, joining a Zoom meeting and scheduling meetings of your own.

› First turtle nest of the season discovered on Siesta Key
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium volunteers found the first sea turtle nest of the season on Monday morning, a loggerhead, the region’s most abundant nester. Mote’s Sea Turtle Conservation & Research Program (STCRP) began monitoring Sarasota area beaches last week. Other signs of sea turtles included a false crawl — when a sea turtle comes on the beach but returns to the ocean without creating a nest — on Longboat Key, also documented on Monday.
