Florida's community banks seize opportunities to help desperate clients

Forget banker’s hours. Bankers across the state have been working more like bartender’s hours, or, in some cases something akin to the lifestyle of a partying college student. Some are staying at the office until 2 a.m., and many are coming in on weekends. Go behind the scenes of a massive mobilization of manpower inside some of the state’s community banks. Opinion: For Florida tourism, the sun will come out

The agility and creativity with which merchants have adapted to dramatic public health and safety constraints has been nothing short of remarkable. But for every cafe or pizza parlor still up and running, others cannot weather these punishing headwinds, and may not be back when they subside. In view of these losses, it’s important to remember that over the last century our hospitality economy, so quick to crumple under sudden outside pressures, has also proven quick to rebound. In the Everglades, it’s all about the water. A statewide stay-at-home order went into effect earlier this month in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19, and while WWE was not initially viewed as essential like grocery stores and pharmacies it has since been given the green light.
