› Florida Firm’s Sanctions for ‘Frivolous’ Overtime Suit Upheld
A Miami law firm must pay nearly $28,000 as a sanction for pursuing an unsubstantiated Fair Labor Standards Act overtime claim in bad faith and unnecessarily increasing litigation, the Eleventh Circuit ruled Tuesday.
› Goodwill Manasota furloughs 52% of its staff
Following a two-week period of a 46% decline in retail sales that’s climbing into the millions, Goodwill Manasota has made the decision to temporarily furlough more than half of its workforce until further notice. The resolution, made after an exhaustive review of the organization’s finances and consideration of many different strategies, affects 374 employees and was effective March 27.
› In Duval’s hot housing market, in-person visits posing problem
Last week, the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors introduced a “virtual open house” system for members to show live video feeds of properties online and answer questions from viewers as cellphone video is displayed. The virtual tours will be scheduled walk-throughs of properties for prospective buyers or real estate agents, not repeating video loops.

Northwest Florida Reception Center is wanting to help those who have lost their job due to the COVID 19 virus. They currently have openings for Certified and Non Certified Corrections Officers and Food Service Employee Positions. The Department of Corrections is paying for all training.
