› Gov DeSantis promotes 'opportunity zone' tax incentives in Brevard's poor communities
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stopped in Melbourne Tuesday to promote a federal program that aims to increase investment in low-income communities through business tax breaks. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 designated certain low-income census tracts as “opportunity zones” with the stated goal of increasing investments in those communities by providing tax breaks.
› Miami’s electric scooter rentals balloon from 300 to more than 3,000
The City of Miami’s electric scooter rental experiment kicked off last April with six companies and fleets of 50 scooters apiece. Since then, three more companies have joined the pilot program, and total approved scooters in the city ballooned 10 times over, to more than 3,000.

A Tech Data shareholder has sued to block the company’s pending $6 billion sale to New York private equity firm Apollo Global Management. Dean Drulias has owned Tech Data stock since 2016, according to his suit, which was filed shortly before Christmas in Hillsborough Circuit Court.
