VyStar and ArtRepublic Present 'Transcending Color'

| 6/11/2019

ArtRepublic has collaborated with VyStar Credit Union to create a highly curated public art plan for their new campus and parking garage that will bring a refreshing, creative presence to an otherwise utilitarian structure.

The new parking garage will contribute to downtown Jacksonville’s growing vibrancy. The artwork itself will transcend the levels of the VyStar parking garage and symbolize a transformation in Jacksonville as we evolve into a cultural capital, with the support of visionary organizations like VyStar.

Brian Wolfburg, President/CEO of VyStar Credit Union says, “VyStar is pleased to work with ArtRepublic, not only to provide a more stimulating work environment for our employees, but also to contribute to ArtRepublic’s mission of shaping contemporary culture and helping artists thrive in the downtown Jacksonville community.”

Color plays a significant role in how people respond to time spent in a space. The impact of art in the workplace is a powerful tool that directly impacts employee productivity and well-being.

ArtRepublic is a creative agency curating spaces that actively contribute to human health and performance by combining innovations in art, design, technology and wellness. We are a passionate collective of artists and industry experts with many years of first-hand experience producing ambitious art projects and events. With a global network of strategic partners, ArtRepublic taps its ecosystem of experts, relationships, access, and industry intelligence to help ensure that our artists and clients achieve their goals.

Artists include:

Remi Rough
Remi Rough is a world-renowned street and gallery artist from South London, England. Rough first started as a street artist in the 1980s, moving later to gallery art. His compositions are abstract with colored shapes and straight edges. His work has been exhibited in Wembley Park, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris, Perth and Tokyo. In 2008, he spoke at Tate Modern in London in association with an exhibition on Street Art, and in 2009, his book, “Lost Colours and Alibis,” was published.

Ryan Coleman
Ryan Coleman’s work combines gestural abstract inspired by classic cartoons. Intertwining bold shapes, vivid color schemes and traditional techniques found in vintage 2D cel animation, he reimagines entirely new compositions in his own distinctive form. While Coleman’s work primarily focuses on paintings and drawings, he also specializes in large-scale murals and installations.

Jason Woodside
Jason Woodside is a New York-based painter whose colorful, large-scale works have graced exterior walls in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney and Paris. Commissions and collaborations include Colette, Adidas, Saatchi & Saatchi, Hayden Shapes, WeWork, Obey Clothing, Faberge, the New Museum and Jeffery Deitch. As a native Floridian, Woodside’s work has been inspired by the natural environment of his origin—particularly the energy of the sun, sea and the land. Mixing bands of kaleidoscope pattern within geometric structures is Woodside’s signature aesthetic. Jason was part of ArtRepublic’s inaugural year collection of public murals.

Golden 305
Golden 305 is an artist, illustrator and painter located in both Miami and New York. Golden’s work is marked by vibrant colors and offbeat characters that borrow heavily from anime and comic book illustrations. His lighthearted pieces are meant to inspire smiles and laughter—brightening up monochromatic public spaces with touches of whimsey. "What makes Golden stand out from the rest is not only the cleanliness and craftsmanship of his work, it's because his pieces truly bring a sense of well-being and happiness,” Danelle Pino, director of art gallery, Wyn 317, says. Golden has been ArtRepublic’s artist manager since 2017 and has also created two murals in Jacksonville in 2017 and 2018.

Ruben Gerardo
Ruben Gerardo Ubiera Gonzalez, born on October 19, 1975, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is a neo-figurative artist, known for his strong use of the line, graffiti-inspired technique/aesthetic, urban murals and mixed media pieces and installations, which are all created with reclaimed objects and found artifacts. He paints and draws in a style considered as Postgraffism, but he prefers to call it “urban pop,” since he has lived most of his life in urban, populated areas, and most of his inspiration is derived from the interactivity between man and his urban environment. At the age of 15, his family moved to the Bronx, New York, where he was heavily influenced by the graffiti art that surrounded him, something he wouldn’t realize until much later in his life.

CENT
Mark “CENT” Ferreira is a Graffiti writer, Contemporary Artist and Graphic Designer based in Jacksonville, FL. His work is typography-oriented with works of traditional graffiti and characters. Working predominately in aerosol he’s inspired by geometry, mid-century design and comics.
