The Florida Supreme Court said it will hear arguments in a dispute about how much the Broward County School Board could be forced to pay to parents and victims in last year’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

When James Griffith walked into a hair salon in his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, at age 19 get a haircut, he walked out with his life’s calling. “I was blown away by the hair business then,” he said in a recent interview at his Venice salon. “This is the coolest place, other than being a rock star.” He credits three chance meetings with changing his life and his fortune.

› Series of earthquakes hit near Florida-Alabama border
A series of small earthquakes hit south Alabama within hours of each other near the Florida line. The cluster is about 45 miles (72 kilometers) north of Pensacola, Florida. Several other earthquakes have been detected in the same area in recent weeks.

On Monday the Miami-Dade Tourism and Ports Committee approved a deal that would allow Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. to build a new office and parking garage on the land at the southwest corner of Dodge Island next to where its older offices sit now.
