Ballot measures would revamp Florida primaries

A political committee has started moving forward with a petition drive aimed at overhauling Florida’s primary-election system. The proposed amendments — one for U.S. Senate and U.S. House races and the other for state races — would allow all registered voters to cast ballots in primaries, regardless of political affiliation. Port Canaveral, local hotels take financial hit after Royal Caribbean cancels three cruises

The accident involving a crane hitting and damaging a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in the Bahamas for maintenance will have a financial impact on Port Canaveral and other local tourism businesses. The Port Canaveral-based ship, the Oasis of the Seas, was forced to cancel three sailings from Port Canaveral — on April 7, 14 and 21 — while it undergoes repairs. More from Florida Today.

Orlando International Airport’s top TSA executive has been replaced on an interim basis, but the federal agency won’t say why. The Transportation Security Administration formally notified Orlando airport officials late Friday afternoon that the airport’s director of security, Jerry Henderson, has been replaced by Pete Garcia. Dali Museum is planning a $38 million expansion in St. Petersburg

 The Salvador Dalí Museum is planning a major expansion that would grow the museum physically and digitally, with the addition of exhibits that use artificial intelligence and augmented reality. The museum filed an application seeking $17.5 million of bed tax money from Pinellas County to support an expansion that includes a new parking garage, event spaces and room for its new digital exhibits, which leaders are calling Digital Dalí.
