Don’t be fooled by Atlanta rains that have spilled over 30-year averages by 43 percent in the past year. Georgia and Florida remain locked in litigation over water resources, and the latest filings in the case show a wide gulf between the two states’ legal and bargaining positions. Lyft offers discount to riders headed to 5 Central Florida women-owned eateries

Lyft customers can use $10 ride credits to get to five local women-owned eateries. The rideshare company is offering the promotion in honor of Women’s History Month. The promotion will be available throughout March. More from the Orlando Sentinel.

Florida is among top 10 states for relocating business

Florida ranks as the 10th best state to relocate a business, according to Site Selection Magazine. The magazine states that this is a jump from ranking in 13th place last year. Florida had 151 projects in 2018. More from WJXT.

Overseas firm working with Tampa Bay area accelerator nets $1 million investment

Israeli medical device company UC-Care, part of the Tampa-based Florida-Israel Business Accelerator’s 2018 cohort, has landed a $1 million investment from Florida Funders, a group that backs early-stage tech companies in Florida. According to a press release, Tampa-based real estate developer and FIBA board member David Scher led the funding effort. More from the Business Observer.

Florida gas prices head toward a 5- to 10-cent spike

Florida gas prices are expected to rise an average of 5 to 10 cents this week, according to AAA, the Auto Club Group. State gas prices averaged $2.46 a gallon Monday, down a penny over the week, while Tampa Bay gas was $2.43 per gallon, down 4 cents from last week. More from the Tampa Bay Times.

When Hank Aaron lived in a segregated Bradenton

 The main house was a brick, five-bedroom duplex next door to a funeral parlor. Behind was a smaller guest house, propped up on stilts. The property was owned by K.W. Gibson, a school principal in Bradenton, and his wife, Lulu, a teacher. In the mid-1950s, during the time of segregation, it was where black players on the Milwaukee Braves stayed during spring training — black players such as the great Henry Aaron, who once held the record for most career home runs, surpassing Babe Ruth.

Seismologist says Space Coast rattle remains unidentified

floridaA mysterious rumble that rattled patio doors and shook houses across the Space Coast Friday evening was not an earthquake, said the U.S. Geological Survey. But a seismologist with the agency is hard-pressed to say exactly what it was that shook homes from Cocoa to Merritt Island.
