› Free parking spaces disappearing in downtown Boca
It’s hard to find a parking spot in downtown Boca Raton. And it soon will become more expensive. Next month, the city will turn on 26 parking meters — now fully installed but covered up with green canvas bags — in the business district east of Federal Highway.
› Frontier Airlines launches in Sarasota
Monday was the first day of service for the low-cost carrier, which offers service to Philadelphia, Cleveland and Atlanta. Frontier, a low-cost airline based in Denver, announced in August that it was coming to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport this winter.

Congressman Brian Mast convened the first meeting of Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis' environment transition team with a sense of urgency. The 40-member panel will frame water issues and identify steps to improve water quality for the new administration.

The number of cases has slowly increased in recent months, with all but two of the cases classified as "travel" related — generally meaning people were infected elsewhere and brought the disease into the state.
