After weeks of early voting, Floridians are heading to the polls today to cast their ballots in races for governor, Senate, various amendments and local races.

TECO says rates will look like 2005 in 2019

Tampa Electric says its rates will drop to levels not seen since 2005, driven by cheaper fuel, large solar projects coming online and a reduction in taxes. Starting in January, Tampa Electric’s price for 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity will fall to $99.53, the company said in a news release, compared to the September 2018 rate of $105.16. Miami-Dade’s Metrorail fight moves north as county considers $870 million extension

Florida’s Transportation Department on Monday recommended extending Metrorail north along 27th Avenue to link the current rail system with Miami Dade College, an $870 million project that the county’s administration says is too expensive for an already strained transit budget. FGCU researchers warn of ciguatera, a dangerous toxin found in reef fish

Researchers from Florida Gulf Coast University are warning seafood lovers about toxins in our water that can make them sick. “Everybody should be aware of it,” FGCU Marine Science Professor Dr. Mike Parsons said. He’s talking about ciguatera, which he says is “a form of seafood poisoning.” More from WINK News.
