Independents will decide Florida’s statewide elections, but polling them is tricky

Southwest Florida banks’ profits keep growing

Community banks in Southwest Florida — the three that are still around — all posted higher profits in the third quarter. Sabal Palm Bank of Sarasota, Charlotte State Bank & Trust of Port Charlotte and Englewood Bank & Trust all reported double-digit gains in earnings, according to recent filings with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Startup plans headquarters move to Fort Lauderdale

Deerfield Beach startup ShipMonk has raised $10 million and plans to move to Fort Lauderdale as well as expand to the New York area in 2019. ShipMonk has tripled its shipping business since 2017, now handling close to 1.5 million packages. More from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
