Starved of its ties to several school districts, the Miami-based company that once boasted free counseling to thousands of students in Palm Beach County and across the state has settled a federal wage dispute with 20 of its former counselors and appears to have shuttered its business in Florida.

By some estimates, red tide has cost Manatee County $4.4 million in direct visitor spending since early August, dealing a harsh blow to tourism, the area’s leading economic engine.
