Florida lobster fishermen fear trade war amid Irma recovery

Just as they prepare for a crucial harvest in the wake of Hurricane Irma, lobster fisherman in the Florida Keys fear a trade war with China could undermine storm recovery in the island chain. No overdraft fees for Sunpass users following glitches

Officials in Tallahassee announced Thursday that Sunpass customers will be reimbursed for overdraft fees following a glitch while revamping the system in June. Orange County hotel tax revenue jumps 16 percent in June

The hotel industry continues to be a monster business in Orlando as the countywide tourist tax on hotel rooms stays jumped 16 percent in June compared with the same month a year ago. The 6 percent countywide tax generated about $25 million in June, according to a release Thursday from the Orange County Comptroller’s Office. More from the Orlando Sentinel.

Rebuild Northwest Florida still fighting FEMA for $17M in hurricane funds

A local home hardening organization is still battling the Federal Emergency Management Agency for nearly $17 million in unused disaster relief funds. Rebuild Northwest Florida alleges FEMA and the Florida Division of Emergency Management are wrongfully withholding grant funding that Rebuild is entitled to. More from the Pensacola News Journal.
