Florida Senate pitches major higher education changes

The Florida Senate on Wednesday released a wide-ranging plan to reshape higher education in the state, including an expansion of Bright Futures scholarships, block tuition for universities, stronger requirements for students to graduate on time and a program to attract high-quality faculty. Marijuana research could be coming to a university near you

The Federal government still classifies cannabis as a dangerous drug with no benefits, and as a result, there has been little research into why the drug seems to be medicinal or the long term effects of its high. But the last line of the legislation expanding the drug for use by terminally ill patients specifically allowed research in Florida Universities. [Soure: Capitol News Service]

Gov. Scott: Florida should cap fees at colleges and universities
