Puerto Ricans rapidly expanding Central Florida Economy

Puerto Rican out-migration has increased over the last five years, and the employed Puerto Rican population increased by a significant 17.7% in Orange County and 31.1% in Hillsborough County from 2010 to 2014. The influx has fed the counties' ongoing economic expansion. More from Moody's and WMFE.

Struggling SeaWorld reveals plan for transformation

In a move away from featuring its signature killer whales as entertainment, SeaWorld said Monday that its San Diego theme park will end "theatrical" orca shows next year, replacing stunts with themes more in tune with wildlife conservation. More at the Orlando Sentinel.

Arkansas bank snaps up C1 Bank parent

Bank of the Ozarks Inc. has signed an agreement to buy C1 Financial Inc. C1 is the St. Petersburg-based parent company of C1 Bank, the fourth-largest bank headquartered in Tampa Bay with $1.7 billion in assets as of Sept. 30. More at the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Endangered sea turtles sue over Broward beach practices

cameras The plaintiffs are Green Sea Turtle, Loggerhead Sea Turtle and Leatherback Sea Turtle, and they're suing over what a lawyer calls disruptive beach practices in Broward County. Attorney Kenneth Trent says the turtles themselves have standing to sue in federal court because they are protected under the Endangered Species Act.
