Florida's jobless rate tumbles to 5.5 percent
Florida's unemployment rate fell two notches to 5.5 percent in June as the state added 7,000 jobs over the month. Though that marks the lowest rate in more than seven years, Florida still trails the national recovery. More at the Tampa Bay Times and Bright House Networks.
Chiquita Brands to move division headquarters to Fort Lauderdale
Produce giant Chiquita Brands is moving dozens of high-paying jobs and the headquarters for its banana division to Fort Lauderdale. The orchestra’s musical director, Michael Francis, is part of a changing of the musical guard in Florida.
