Florida Senate to convene rare workshop on Medicaid expansion

President Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, is convening all members of the Florida Senate on Tuesday to discuss the precarious situation involving the health care budget. The move is unusual, especially given that lawmakers have just 10 days until the scheduled end of the 2015 session. But few things about this year's session have been ordinary. Venture Hive to open accelerator for veteran-owned tech startups

Venture Hive, the Miami-based entrepreneurship education company, is partnering with the city of Fort Walton Beach to launch a national accelerator for veteran-owned businesses. More at the Miami Herald.

One morning last summer, Tony Smith slipped a multicolor tutu over his scrubs in the pre-op ward of a South Florida hospital to grant the wish of a young patient heading to surgery.

A photo of the tutu-clad Smith quickly became a hit online and within weeks, Tutu Tuesday was born at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
