Business stockpiles frozen in January

U.S. businesses did not add to their stockpiles for a second straight month in January as total business sales fell by the largest amount in nearly six years. Business stockpiles were unchanged following a similar flat reading in December, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. More at the AP.


67,700 Floridians may be owed tax refund for 2011

An estimated 67,700 Floridians who did not file a federal income tax return for 2011 may have a refund coming — but they'll lose the money unless they submit a 2011 tax return by April 15. More at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The Pritzker — the world’s premier prize for architecture — will be awarded in May at the New World Center in Miami Beach. It’s the first time it has been bestowed in the Miami area, which is a hotbed for Pritzker Architecture Prize winners’ work. More at the Miami Herald.


Gov. Scott heading to California in jobs push

Gov. Scott is planning an April trip as part of his effort to lure businesses from other states. The Republican governor sent a letter Thursday to shipping companies. Scott is urging them to shift their business to Florida after labor disputes in California ports. More at the AP.


Denison Yacht Sales expands to US Virgin Islands

Denison Yacht Sales of Fort Lauderdale has opened its second office in the Caribbean, a sign of the rebound underway in the boating industry. The expansion taps a popular market for catamarans in the U.S. Virgin Islands, an area long known for yachting. More at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
