Early Moves

Jeff Brooks | 10/1/2006
Former mayoral candidate Mike Weinstein is likely to challenge Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton in 2007. Weinstein, who spent 25 years working for two mayoral administrations, was in the field for the mayor's race in 2003, falling just short of making the runoff in a race that featured several big-name candidates, including former Sheriff Nat Glover, former City Council members Matt Carlucci and Ginger Soud and former state Sen. Betty Holzendorf. Weinstein has already begun wooing firefighters, who generally backed Peyton in 2003.
