Who's Building

The State University System will spend nearly a billion dollars on construction in the next three years on everything from waterworks to roadwork at Florida's 11 public universities. Dorms, garages, student unions and stadiums are extra.

» Also: Two dorms and a 110-acre student recreation complex; FSU next year hopes to see a $32 million classroom-lab-administration facility open at its Panama City site, the first academic expansion there since 1987

» Unique: The $40-million Dr. Kiran C. Patel Center for Global Solutions, inspired by the Tampa healthcare philanthropist, also is scheduled to complete construction in 2009
