The timeshare industry’s impact on the state’s economy increased 25.6% from 2002 to 2005, according to results of a study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers for the American Resort Development Association. Other results:

• $14.3 billion — industry’s contribution to the state’s economy in 2005
• 7.9 million — timeshare visitors in Florida
• $2,062 — average spent per group per trip
• 161,100 — full-time and part-time jobs supported
• 16.2% — increase in jobs from 2002
• $5.4 billion — wages created
• 27.8% — increase in wages from 2002
• $2.1 billion — tax revenue generated
• 25.2% — increase in tax revenue from 2002
• 378 — number of timeshare resorts in Florida, the highest nationwide
• 47,400 — number of units in Florida (30.7% of U.S. total)
• $3.7 billion — total timeshare visitor spending
• 82.4% — average occupancy rate, compared with state’s hotel average of 69.1%
