Telluspoint - tech venture - has licenses from UWF

When University of West Florida history professors Jay Clune and Patrick Moore were returning from a Tallahassee meeting four years ago, they mused: "Wouldn't it be great to deliver historic information based on our GPS location, rather than just restaurants and gas stations?''

Ft. LauderdaleToday, thanks to collaboration with colleagues, grants and exploratory treks through Florida historic sites, that's possible. Their Next Exit History is a free smart phone app that provides access to 45,557 historic sites in the U.S. and beyond.

The professors' company, Telluspoint, is the first commercial venture with technology licensed by UWF, says Richard S. Podemski, associate vice president for research and dean of the graduate school. Rob Wilson, who has a background in finance and entrepreneurial development, has been hired as CEO.
