» Saying he wants to spend more time with his family, Florida Supreme Court Justice Kenneth B. Bell announced he will step down Oct. 1. His resignation leaves Gov. Charlie Crist four vacancies to fill on the seven-member court.

» State Rep. Joseph Gibbons, a Broward County Democrat and president of the Gibbons Consulting Group, has joined Akerman Senterfitt’s Tallahassee office as a consultant.

» George LeMieux, former deputy attorney general for Florida and former chief of staff to Gov. Charlie Crist, had been named chairman of Gunster Yoakley & Stewart. Also, Hugh W. “Bill” Perry is the firm’s new managing shareholder, a position that had been held by Don Beuttenmuller, who will now serve as general counsel to the firm.

» Loretta Comiskey O’Keeffe is a new partner at Arnstein & Lehr in Tampa. Before joining the firm, she was a staff counsel at the Florida Bar.
