Jacksonville ranks among the least literate cities in the U.S. in an annual study conducted by Central Connecticut State University. The "America's Most Literate Cities" report scored cities of 250,000 people or more on education level, internet use, newspaper circulation, number of booksellers, library services, local publications and other indicators. Jacksonville ranked 55 out of the 75 U.S. cities surveyed. The most literate city in the nation is Seattle, followed by Washington, D.C.; Minneapolis; Pittsburgh; and Atlanta. The other Florida cities in the ranking are Tampa, which tied for 20th, up from 29th in 2008; and Miami, tied for 33rd, the same rank as the prior year. Broken down by category, Jacksonville ranked:
