Michael Daniels, 38, wanted a way to avoid sharedcustody scheduling and budgeting issues with his ex-wife after a contentious divorce.

Daniels, a custom home builder, and his team launched app Fayr to manage and document child-sharing responsibilities. It features a joint family calendar, in-app texting to make communication simpler and real-time location check-ins via a geo-pin.

“There’s an indisputable record that you are there, so there’s no reason to contact lawyers,” says Daniels, who has two grade-school age children with his former wife.

The app also creates an audit trail of spending and expenses to eliminate the need to locate receipts. It can export court-ready documentation.

The app is free and available on iOS and Android. There’s a $49 charge to download exportable reports. It was featured on an episode of Apple’s reality series “Planet of the Apps” in which actress Gwyneth Paltrow served as Daniels’ mentor and adviser. Daniels now wants to branch out with similar apps for roommates, caregivers and families.

“Children deserve to live with parents who are able to be the best versions of themselves,” Daniels says. “I knew that when I was in an argument with my ex-wife, I wasn’t able to do that. With Fayr, you can show your children by example how to live peacefully and equitably.”
