Virtual Help

Matthew Buckman began learning HTML and designing websites in the seventh grade in Ocala. By the time he got to high school, he was proficient in graphic design and other computer applications. Instead of college, he moved to Los Angeles and began working in the field, developing skills in 3-D animation and then virtual reality and augmented reality (where virtual images are integrated into real life).

Last December, the 23-year-old returned to Ocala and formed his own digital media company called Twelve Eight Media, where he is working with businesses to develop websites and virtual/augmented reality applications.

“There’s an untapped market here,” says Buckman.

He funded the company with the money he earned working. “I’m very lucky, but it’s been a lot of hard work at the same time.”
