"I was told that Florida was a tenant-friendly place, but it doesn't seem that way."

Natalie Brough is looking for a place to rent. She and her husband had an annual lease on a home in Cape Coral that was set to expire on Aug. 31. But on April 9 she got notice she would have to vacate her home in 30 days.

"We asked what compensation we would receive for the early termination of the lease," Brough said. And she was told, "Nothing. There was a clause in their lease that provides for this."
