As federal reforms kill "mini-med" health plans, Orlando-based Darden Restaurants and other companies are turning to a similar option for low-wage workers. Called fixed indemnity plans, they pay patients set amounts of money for a limited number of doctor visits, prescriptions and other medical costs. More at the Orlando Sentinel.
Hertz breaks ground on world headquarters in Estero
It's official. Hertz on Tuesday broke ground on its new world headquarters in Estero. But its "lady in white," as the architect describes the sleek, modern building, won't start coming out of the ground until early next year. More at the Naples Daily News.
US banks earn $36 billion in third quarter
U.S. banks earned less in the July-September quarter than they did a year earlier, marking the first year-over-year decline in earnings since the spring of 2009 when the country was still mired in the Great Recession. More at the AP.
