BioFront Technologies

Jason Robotham, an FSU post-doctorate research scientist, launched BioFront Technologies in 2010, aided by co-founder, FSU biological sciences professor Hengli Tang. Robotham, as sole employee, soon readied 20 commercial products for market, including BioFront’s likely-to-be trademark development called the MonoTrace ELISA kit. The kit gives food manufacturers a fast, accurate way to detect trace amounts of food allergens, such as those from peanuts and tree nuts, before their products reach stores. Florida’s Institute for Commercialization of Public Research recently approved up to $300,000 in matching assistance, enabling Robotham to begin a full-scale launch into the food safety marketplace.
