Boomers saving less for retirement than other workers

Employed baby boomers, from 50 to 64, are the most likely of any age group to be saving less this year for retirement than last year, according to a survey conducted by North Palm Beach-based Bankrate.com. Read more from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Bankrate.

Tired of going out of state to find programmers for his Pragmatic Works software company, Brian Knight is starting a training school in Jacksonville to teach the .NET programming language used by Microsoft. Opening in September, the Vivo School of Technology in downtown Jacksonville will charge $9,900 for an 18-week course.

Smokers need not apply at Florida hospital

Starting Jan. 1, Bert Fish Medical Center will no longer hire tobacco users, joining two other local hospitals in telling smokers not to apply. Applicants will be tested for a nicotine by-product and sign an agreement to remain tobacco-free during their employment with the New Smyrna Beach public hospital.
