Dicaptca captions news and entertainment for hearing impaired

Without captioning, television news, educational and entertainment media would be inaccessible to many people with hearing or visual impairments. Maria Diaz, founder and CEO of Dicapta, a Winter Springs company that uses cutting-edge technology for all forms of caption insertion, subtitles and live dubbing in English or Spanish, knows about limitations firsthand. Diaz has had a hearing impairment from birth. She earned college degrees in her native Colombia and at Full Sail University media school in Winter Park. This year her firm, a University of Central Florida Business Incubation client, was selected as Seminole County’s 2013 Small Business of the Year and Minority Business of the Year by the county’s Regional Chamber of Commerce.
