The speed limit drops to 15 mph for a quarter-mile strip of small motels on Casey Key.

Any slower than that and visitors might very well turn back time, which is sort of the whole point. On a quiet summer day, with a little imagination, the beach-and-bay motels look like 1963.

Same cinderblock buildings and courtyards open to the Gulf of Mexico. Same palm trees and sea grapes. Same surf and sunsets.
