Gov. Scott says he'll fight for PIP law

Gov. Rick Scott said he will "continue to fight" for the state's new Personal Injury Protection law in light of a judge's temporarily banning its enforcement. Scott says changes to PIP have resulted in more than 70 percent of insurance rates approved by the Office of Insurance Regulation either decreasing or holding steady. More at the AP.

State to appeal Florida/Cuba contracts ruling

Lawyers for the state will make their case Thursday in a federal court in Miami as they appeal a court ruling which struck down a 2012 law which dealt with companies who do business with Cuba. Under the law, local governments were barred from doing business with companies that have contracts with Cuba or Syria. More at the AP.

A study released today on the economic impact of The Florida Film and Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive Program found a return on investment (ROI) of 4.7, with estimated state and local tax revenues in Florida last fiscal year totaling $547 million and the present value of the tax credit totaling $117 million.
