"I'm hoping people throw popcorn."
For six weeks, clowns from Circus Sarasota taught 90 students their routines during gym class.
The program — which is also taking place at Emma E. Booker Elementary — is paid for by a $10,000 grant through the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation.
Through the program, some students learn about inertia and friction from circus acts in their science classes while others read about a young girl performing on the high wire. The Alta-Vista third-graders developed their own circus.
