Florida ranks high in new report on teacher quality
The National Center on Teacher Quality has released its latest briefs on state teacher policies, with Florida leading the way overall and near the top in every category. The group gave Florida a B for its total mark, the only state to achieve that level. It considered its improvement in the categories assessed to be ninth best of the 50 states. Potential payoff for expanding Medicaid
Florida could gain a badly-needed economic boost and thousands of new jobs each year if state officials accept federal funds to expand Medicaid, three new studies say. One study calculates the payoff at 16-to-1. The studies -- two by university researchers, one by a hospital association -- agree on the fiscal benefit of enlarging the health program for the poor. The indoor trampoline business is booming, with dozens of parks open or in the works across America. "Since early to mid-2010, the whole industry has exploded," said Jeff Platt, chief executive of Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, a Los Angeles company that opened its first location in Las Vegas in 2004.
