Two and a half years ago, when Willis Mullet sold the garage-door company where he’d been president for some 30 years, he retained his research and development division. He renamed the Pensacola company HomeRun Holdings and shifted the company’s focus to his newest invention, Qmotion Shades. The remote-control, cordless window shade has a seven-year battery and a quiet motor. It was voted best new technical innovation for 2012 by the Window Covering Manufacturers Association. Sales have been up every quarter since startup, and the workforce now totals 80. Dealer arrangements are in place to supply several European countries. And a 200-shade shipment recently left for Australia.
