Stay in the Heart of South Beach

Originally built in 1937, the Hotel Victor reopened two years ago with a new name, a new look and a new style for the Art Deco district of South Beach.
Unveiled after a $48-million renovation and expansion in 2005, the 91-room boutique property is adjacent to the former Versace mansion on Ocean Drive overlooking the Atlantic. Owners ZOM, an Orlando-based company known for developing apartment complexes, hired designer Jacques Garcia of Paris to create a “seductive sanctuary.” He brought his signature touches of color, texture and dramatic lighting, mixing a 1930s and 1940s feel with modern amenities.

Some of the hotel’s more distinctive touches include a mood-lighted jellyfish tank in the lobby, a second-story rimless mosaic-tiled pool, and a 6,000-sq.-ft. underground day spa that houses a hamam, or Turkish-style steam bath, along with seven rooms that feature spa treatments from Paris and Greece.
In the hotel’s upscale restaurant, Vix, diners can look out over the property’s gardens or request the chef’s table and watch the kitchen staff prepare their food. A second spot, Vue, offers casual outdoor dining on a second-floor terrace overlooking Ocean Drive.

In the rooms and suites, designer Garcia has infused jewel-tone colors into the custom décor. A top-floor penthouse comes with a private elevator, 360-degree views, an outdoor hottub and two private terraces.
Prices for a standard room start at $500-plus in-season and the high $200s to mid-$300s off-season.
