Bedside doc: RP-7 robot
Doctors at Orlando Regional Medical Center are using a robot to fill in for them at patients’ bedsides in the intensive-care unit, letting the doctors be in two places at once 24/7 through trademarked Virtually There technology. The RP-7 has a video monitor in place of a face. A doctor in another location can use a laptop to focus in on a patient or bedside monitors through the robot’s digital cameras and can talk with the patient or other healthcare professionals. The doctor can even remotely maneuver the robot through the hallway.
