» The Manatee Port Authority has hired Carlos Buqueras as its new executive director. Buqueras had been director of business development at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. He replaces David McDonald, who retired.

» Sharon Hillstrom is the new executive director of the Manatee Economic Development Corp. Hillstrom, who has lived in Manatee County for 20 years, was named interim executive director following the resignation last year of Eric Basinger, who left for an economic development job in Alabama.

» Nancy S. Berg has started work as president and CEO of Tampa-based ISPE, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
