I couldn’t be more pleased to introduce Bruce Faulmann, the man who’s going to step into the publisher’s job here at Florida Trend when I retire in April.

Deciding to leave Florida Trend wasn’t easy, but I’ve had 17 great years, and Bruce is well-qualified to lead our family of publications and websites into new growth opportunities.

In the meeting where Andrew Corty, my boss and Florida Trend’s president, introduced Bruce to the staff, Andy said, “I have every confidence that Bruce — only the sixth publisher in the magazine’s 50-year history — and the professional team at Florida Trend will build on the magazine’s fine history and record of accomplishment.”

Bruce is an able and accomplished executive with experience at the most senior publishing levels. He comes to Florida Trend from the Tampa Tribune, where he was vice president of advertising and sales for the past five years. Previously, he was the Tribune’s advertising director. Before that, he worked 15 years at the Bradenton Herald, finishing his tenure as vice president for sales, where he participated on a reorganization team for the Knight-Ridder organization.

Bruce Faulmann

”I’m especially excited about participating with decision-makers on a statewide level and connecting with Florida Trend readers and advertisers.”

— Bruce Faulmann,
Florida Trend’s new publisher

Bruce came to Florida as a child, and it’s just a coincidence that he and I attended the same high school in Bradenton and we both took degrees from Manatee Community College. I took the higher path to Florida State for my bachelor’s degree; Bruce went on to the University of Florida. (For all my Gator friends: Just kidding, so please don’t write to me about this.) He and his wife, Anita, and their three teenage boys live in Tampa.

Bruce has a strong belief in the importance of civic involvement, and I know that he looks forward to participating in some of the key statewide organizations that have given me so much professional reward. I’m going to continue as group publisher until April, and I look forward to the opportunity to introduce Bruce in person to as many of you as possible in the coming months.

Bruce has told me that he has already received numerous phone calls and e-mails congratulating him on a great decision to become part of a “prestigious, well-respected magazine with such deep roots.” I couldn’t agree more.

Connecting with readers and advertisers is one of the parts of my job that I’ve enjoyed most. Over the past 30 years, my passion for magazine publishing has never waned, and I plan to stay very active with my own consulting firm — and with Florida Trend as my first and most valued client.
